Our Tortie of the Week is Toffee, who lives with her owner Jeanne in Grand Rapids, MI.

Toffee was rescued as a tiny baby when she was trapped in the engine block of a van during a horrendous thunder storm.

Fortunately, Jeanne’s sister heard Toffee’s cries and took her in. It was obvious she has been abandoned.

After her sister took care of her for a few weeks, Jeanne took Toffee in. Toffee was a blessing to her as she had recently lost her Sophie, a Tuxedo, to cancer, just a few weeks before.

Toffee helped Jeanne to get through the Covid isolation as they kept each other company.

She’s now 5 ½ years old and stubborn as any true Tortie. But she shows her love and affection in her own way, in her own time, and it warms Jeanne’s heart.

Often, Toffee will come to where she is in the house, stare at her as if to say “Oh, you’re still here! OK, she’ll go back to what she was doing. She’s her joy.
