Our Tortie of the Week is the fantastically named Joan Crawford who lives with her owner Juliana in Brooklyn, New York.

Joan’s story is that she was lost on the streets of Brooklyn during a freezing rainy February day and she somehow found a tiny opening in Juliana’s basement and made her way into the plumbing under the bathtub.

Juliana was away working but she started getting calls from her neighbors and landlord who said there was a cat screaming in the basement. They had all been down there but the kitty wouldn’t come out and they were asking her to give it a try

Juliana was 2 hours away at work so told them she would see what she could do when she got home.

Later that night there was not a peep, so she figured the kitty had gotten out, since it had stopped raining.

However, next morning there was more screaming so Juliana followed her voice. When she called to her there was scrabbling in the ceiling with debris falling onto her head but Joan jumped onto the windowsill and into her arms.

That was 12 years ago and the rest is history! Joan now loves living in the apartment although she hates the landlord and growls whenever he comes round. She also doesn’t like people wearing shoes in the apartment!
