Our Tortie of the Week is Cleopatra, who features on the cover of the Tortie Catz Calendar 2025! She now lives with her owner Wayne and his family in Kansas City.

Cleopatra has a rags to riches story as she was a feral kitty caught and sent to a shelter, and after two failed adoptions, she languished in a small cage for over 6 months at the local shelter.

Wayne and his daughter went to the local shelter to find a kitten. Walking by all the cages of cats, she reached out and literally hooked Wayne with her claw as he walked by!

Well, needless to say, Cleoplatra went home with them even though at the shelter folks advised about the twice returned little Tortie who had a reputation at the shelter. One of the calendars is now at the shelter. They were shocked and very happy!

Cleopatra has been a loving and bossy member of the family now for almost 10 years. She sits at the kitchen table with them in her chair, sleeps with them and follows them everywhere.

Oh, she is a true Tortie and the first couple of years were filled with scratches and bite marks (Definitely why she was twice returned)

Cleopatra’s feral beginnings came through as she is an amazing hunter. She has presented all sorts of local rodents, birds, reptiles and mammals. This was most shocking to Wayne’s wife and daughter.

Hilarious stores of Cleo bringing in wild animals only to release them in the house, much to the horror of his wife and daughter. The bat and snake are the best stories. The screams were not of laughter.

Wayne’s daughter has grown and moved away and Cleopatra is now his faithful friend and companion day and night. She follows him everywhere and enjoys assisting him on the computer when working from home.

When they saw her picture on the cover of the calendar, they cried tears of happiness. Thinking how and small once feral Tortie would be famous on the cover of a calendar!
