Buttercup is Christmas Tortie of the Week

Happy Christmas from Tortie Catz! We are delighted to share our Christmas Tortie of the Week star, who is Buttercup!

Buttercup lives with her owner Kelly and was adopted when she was 5 months old.

The first day Kelly brought her home she was picking up toys and dropping them next to her. Kelly would throw them and she’d retrieve. She has never had a cat who plays fetch before!

It didn’t take long for Kelly to decide she needed a companion in the house so she adopted Mia, her beautiful Bengal. She was 3 years old and had raised a couple of litters herself.

Kelly was really hoping the two of them would be like mother and daughter. They made it clear they’re like stepsisters who put up with each other. Luckily their shared love for Kelly is the glue that keeps them together.

Buttercup is extremely playful and loves to climb anywhere and everywhere in the house. This makes having Christmas decorations quite stressful!

Kelly considered it when Buttercup was 3 years old, and started with a few decorations around the house. She was immediately picking them up and throwing them on the floor and claiming them as her toys. She made it clear she wasn’t ready for a tree yet.

Last year, she was 4 and Kelly felt she was well-behaved enough to have a Christmas tree. Little did she know how much she would love it! You would think she put it up just for her! Even though it’s fake, she still loves to climb on the branches.

Both years she has played the game, ‘Where’s Buttercup’ with her friends. She’s good at camouflaging herself in the tree.
