Bear is Tortie of the Week
Our Tortie of the Week is Bear, who lives with her owner John in Kelso, Washington.

Bear surveying her domain
Bear’s journey began about a year ago…even though she’s only six months old.
Her mother was a feral calico cat called Cali that they left food out for. One day, Cali let John pet her and she would hop up on his lap.
They think Cali had a litter of kittens, but only one appears to have survived. She brought her kitten to their house to eat as well. That kitten is now grown but still comes daily for a feast. Cali would come and go, but became more affectionate as time went by.
John decided to adopt Cali, but she stopped coming by and they were getting concerned about her. Just when they lost hope, she reappeared and was as big as a box car!
The next day, she delivered 9 kittens and Bear was the last birthed. She was the first cat to venture out of their area and would continually try and explore around the house.
She got her name “Bear” because when she would play, she would stand up and looked like a little bear.
She is very cuddly when she wants to be. When she wants to be petted she will lay down on her side and twist her neck in an odd pose that melts your heart.
John ended up taking 3 of that litter, a tuxedo kitten “Smudge”, an orange cat “Sherbie” and Bear. She is very precocious, loving and a scamp. Over the holidays, she loved to crawl up on the Christmas tree and watch her domain!
Thanks to John for sharing these details of Bear, and look out for her picture on our X, Facebook and Instagram pages. You can also check out tortie videos on our You Tube channel.
Look out for the next Tortie of the Week next week!
